FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly dental orthopaedics and orthodontic therapy. What is presented is an alginate impression material which contains an antimicrobial addition in the form of dimethylsulphoxide in the amount of (10-16)% of total amount of the other ingredients of the material. Using the alginate impression material with added dimethylsulphoxide in the above amount for preparing a dento-facial impression provides the bactericidal and virucidal properties of the impression compound and the dental cast model along with such characteristics necessary for the high-quality impression, as easy impression compounding, hardening within a given time, high-accuracy durable storage-stable impression.
EFFECT: impression using the presented material is accompanied with reducing oedemas, gingival sponginess, microbial load in the mouth cavity.
