FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing difluoroacetic acid involves reacting an ester of difluoroacetic acid with an aliphatic carboxylic acid, which enables to form, as a result of a transesterification reaction, difluoroacetic acid and an ester of a corresponding carboxylic acid. The carboxylic acid is selected such that the ester of said carboxylic acid has a boiling point lower than that of difluoroacetic acid. The molar ratio of the ester of difluoroacetic acid to the aliphatic carboxylic acid varies from 0.8 to 1.2. The ester of said carboxylic acid is removed as it is formed by distillation in order to separate difluoroacetic acid.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain an end product of high purity.
