SUBSTANCE: adhesive composition contains at least about 65 wt % of waterproof, oil-modified chemically inert alkyd resin and from about 0.001 wt % to about 35 wt % (i) one of a polymer selected from a group consisting of polyhydroxyalkanoates, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene, polypropylene, maleated polypropylene, polylactic acid, nylon, caprolactam and combinations thereof; and (ii) a process additive, for example selected from a group consisting of talc, clay, cellulose mass, flour, walnut shells, cotton, jute, chitin, metal salts of fatty acids, esters and soaps thereof, polyolefin wax, silicon, diatomaceous earth and combinations thereof. A disposable absorbent article contains absorbent article components and an adhesive composition deposited between and joining at least two components of the article. Components of the absorbent article have a top layer, a bottom layer and an absorbent layer or have at least two layers of a material. When forming an adhesive joint between components of the disposable absorbent article, the adhesive composition is spread on the first component at temperature ranging from about 80°C to about 200°C. The first component is joined with the second component.

EFFECT: structural adhesive does not require use of plasticisers, adhesion enhancing substances and conventional polymers which are needed for hot-melt adhesives; the structural adhesive containing a waterproof, oil-modified chemically inert alkyd resin does not require treatment or deposition at high temperatures like structural adhesives which contain chemically active alkyds.
