FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, particularly, to strip production and can be used at lengthwise cutting plants in cutting coiled steel to strip to be used as billets for production of bent sections and pipes at profile-bending mills. Proposed method comprises strip cutting at lengthwise cutting plants by gang disc shears, strips separation and coiling. Note here that disc blades are arranged with overlap and clearance determined by definite empirical relationships. Back tension calculated with allowance for said overlap and clearance is created ahead of disc blades. After starting of coiling, back tension is created ahead of winder exceeding the tension in coil unwinding by 1.5-3.0 times.
EFFECT: higher surface quality and density of strip coiling.
