FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aircraft engineering and specifically to naval aviation to facilitate visual landing of a helicopter on a shipborne landing strip night and day. The method of displaying information on vertical displacement of a shipborne landing strip when landing a helicopter on a ship involves installing a multifunctional indicator on the dock or other bulkhead of the ship in a position close to vertical, with the front side directed towards the approach side of the helicopter, the multifunctional indicator having at least two information fields with luminous elements, e.g., based on LEDs of different colours, the first of which, parallel to the long side of the indicator, displays the scale of the height of displacement of the centre of the landing strip, and the second information field displays the current position of the landing strip, characterised by that on the second information field, information on the position of the landing strip is displayed in form of a colour bar graph consisting of lines of LEDs, the beginning of which is a line of LEDs displaying the current position of the landing strip and the end of which is a line of LEDs displaying the predicted position of the landing strip when it moves up or down.
EFFECT: safer landing of a helicopter on a ship in difficult weather conditions day and night.
