FIELD: packaging industry.

SUBSTANCE: in the method the container is filled with products in uncontrolled atmosphere, the air is removed from the container due to its filling to the nominal volume with the liquid, the filled container is placed in a non-oxidising atmosphere consisting of at least one non-oxidising gas, the liquid is completely or partially removed from the container in a non-oxidising atmosphere, at that the products are held in the container so that at least one non-oxidising gas replaces the liquid in the container. Then the container opening is sealed by gas-tight manner in a non-oxidising atmosphere. The unit for implementing the method is a production line and comprises containers located sequentially in the direction of movement with an opening frontwards, a means for continuous filling the containers with liquid, a chamber with the non-oxidising gas, the means of conveyor supply of the containers forward and a device built-in in the chamber for overturning the containers for removing liquid, provided with means of retaining non-liquid products in the container, and a device for sealing closure of the container opening. The method or device for packaging food products, such as pieces of vegetables or meat, is applied.
