FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: measured range value and a given value of the altitude interval between flight levels are used to determine the value of the coverage area of the antenna beam pattern in the vertical plane and angles of inclination of the antenna within which the coverage area is provided are calculated. When the antenna scans in the vertical plane relative a stabilised position in space within the calculated angles of inclination, the position of the object in the vertical plane relative a given altitude interval between flight levels in the coverage area is determined. When a hazardous object is found in the coverage area and upon achieving a preset value of range of hazardous proximity, a signal for changing the flight path, which is transmitted to autopilot, is generated.

EFFECT: high flight safety due to automatic flight control and preventing collision with objects in the vertical plane in a given flight altitude interval between flight levels.
