FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: higher strength and plastic properties, impact resistance and better hardness are ensured by making castings from steel with the content of carbon of 0.2-0.28 wt % and chromium of 3.5-4.5 wt %. Then castings are heat treated by tempering at 850-870°C in oil and subsequent drawback at 600-620°C. Produced castings are processed to preset surface characteristics and subjected to low-temperature thermochemical processes, say, nitration or carbonitration.
EFFECT: higher heat and wear resistance, micro hardness of at least 850 HV
