SUBSTANCE: method of scheduling transmission of non-real time processed data using a wireless device involves determining whether data corresponding to one or more of a plurality of applications associated with the common activity message has been transmitted during a maximum time interval for transmitting the common activity message; making a decision to transmit the common activity message if data were not transmitted during the maximum time interval; making a decision to buffer non-real time processed data for transmission over a radio network; making a decision to schedule transmission of non-real time processed data using the wireless device. Transmission of the non-real time processed data is scheduled in accordance with the active state of the radio unit used by the wireless device to communicate over the radio network, wherein the active state is initiated by real time transmission of a message not associated with the non-real time processed data.
