FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatic brakes of invalid wheeled chairs adapted for motion over stairways. Automatic brake comprises levers with thrust rolls at their free ends. Said levers are pivoted ahead of wheels to be changed from top idle position to bottom working position and to allow rolls to roll over steps or other bearing surface ahead of wheels and to allow dropping down by gravity and holding up above the following step. Levers are spring loaded for locking at top position by springs. Besides, automatic brake comprises support spikes arranged between said levers between lever articulated base and its support roll. Additionally, this brake comprises ratchet-gears. Ratchet wheel of every said mechanism is aligned with one of chair wheel and rigidly jointed therewith. Every support spike is equipped with rod spring-loaded by resilient element in its axial direction. Friction thrust bearing is fitted at one end of the rod end directed downward and forward while its opposite end directed upward and backward can lock said ratchet wheel.
EFFECT: higher reliability under various operating conditions.
