FIELD: instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises probing the flow of non-separated gas-fluid mix by continuous ultrasound signal, reception of signal reflected from irregularities, complex detection isolating in-phase and quadrature components, spectral analysis to obtain signal power spectrum and definition of signal spectrum mean frequency. Note here that difference spectrum is defined as the difference between positive frequency components and appropriate negative frequency spectrum components. Difference spectrum mean frequency is defined. In calibration defined are dependencies of signal spectrum frequency and difference spectrum frequency upon gas and fluid phase flow rates. Then, said dependencies obtained in calibration are used to define gas and fluid phase flow rates. Other criteria can be used for estimation of gas content apart from spectrum symmetric part. Version of method implementation is possible exploiting a portion of negative frequencies caused by inversion of direction at gas availability. Besides, separate gas content transducer can be used.

EFFECT: higher precision, expanded range of measured frequencies.
