FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to neutralisation of hydrogen sulphide and light mercaptans in hydrocarbon media with chemical neutralising agents and can be used in oil, gas, oil and gas processing and petrochemical industry. The hydrogen sulphide and mercaptan neutraliser contains the following, wt %: urotropin 5-27, monoethanolamine 3-12, triethanolamine 1-15, paraformaldehyde or carbamide-formaldehyde concentrate (CFC) 5-35 and formalin - the balance. The neutraliser can further contain aliphatic alcohol and a hydroxide and/or carbonate of an alkali metal, with the following ratio of components, wt %: urotropin 5-26, monoethanolamine 3-10, triethanolamine 1-13, paraformaldehyde or CFC 8-35, alkali metal hydroxide and/or carbonate 0-1%, aliphatic alcohol 3-20 and formalin - the balance. The neutraliser also has bactericidal activity towards sulphate reducing bacteria and can be used as a bactericide for inhibiting growth of sulphate reducing bacteria in oil-field environments.

EFFECT: efficient neutraliser, having high processability (low set point) and reaction capacity, and providing high degree of purification of oil, oil products and hydrocarbon gases from hydrogen sulphide and light mercaptans at low specific consumption.
