SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronics, particularly devices for receiving and transmitting information over wire lines. The serial interface transceiver with a galvanic isolation element has a galvanic isolation element, series-connected input information encoding device, pulse duration former, transmitter terminal amplifier, as well as series-connected receiver input amplifier and decoding device, wherein the galvanic isolation element is connected between the transmitter terminal amplifier and communication lines, and the input of the receiver amplifier is connected to the output of the transmitter terminal amplifier, wherein input signals fed to the galvanic isolation element are encoded by two heteropolar pulses which correspond to leading edge and trailing edge of the input signal.

EFFECT: simple and reliable transceiver with a galvanic isolation element and low current consumption.
