FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: in a free-piston engine containing an engine housing, two oppositely installed cylinders and one piston group, a magnetically permeable cylindrical insert is installed between cylinders, a piston group is made in the form of a single assembly with two end faces and a cylindrical hollow housing, in the middle part of which there is an internal magnetically permeable cylindrical insert, and inside there radially installed are constant magnets of a segment shape; the engine housing is made magnetically transparent so that a gap is formed between itself and the cylindrical housing, and on its outer side there installed is at least one excitation winding. A free-piston engine includes a control unit, and a pressure sensor connected by means of an electrical connection to the control unit is installed in each cylinder.

EFFECT: improved engine reliability and power.
