FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: proposed engine comprises housing, two pairs of opposed cylinders and two sets of pistons. Every piston set is composed of a single assembly with two ends and cylindrical hollow housing. The latter accommodates pins arranged at its mid part. Engine housing is configured to make the clearance between it and piston sets engaged by timing mechanism. The latter incorporates the main shaft extending through said housing to both sides. Overrunning clutches with output shafts engaged with generators are fitted outside said housing and engaged with overrunning clutch main shaft. Timing gear is composed of a bell crank engaged with said main shaft and racks at piston sets. Proposed engine comprises control unit. Pressure gage is fitted in every cylinder electrically connected with control unit. Engine comprises piston position transducer arranged in every cylinder electrically connected with control unit.
EFFECT: higher engine efficiency and reliability, simplified design, decreased vibration-caused stresses.
