FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: guide channel of a fuel assembly of a nuclear reactor with a burnable absorber is placed in spacer grid cells. At least part of the surface of the guide channel is coated with a layer of a burnable absorber which contains a boron-10 isotope in an amount which burns out in not more than one exposure cycle of the fuel assembly. In a special case of the design of the apparatus, the boron-10 isotope is part of the material from which the guide channel is made.
EFFECT: high power of the reactor.
