SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatic creation of such an atmosphere as a lighting atmosphere coupled with music, which is suitable for a public environment and mood in an ambient environment, e.g. indoors. A version of the invention provides a system (10) for automatically creating an atmosphere which is suitable for a public environment and mood in an ambient environment (12), having a sound receiving unit (14) configured to receive sound (161, 162, 163) from the ambient environment (12) and generate an audio signal (18) representing the received sound, an audio signal processing unit (20) configured to receive and analyse an audio signal (18) to detect a public environment and mood in the ambient environment (12), and an atmosphere creating unit (22) configured to automatically generate control signals (24) for the atmosphere creating system (26) for creating an atmosphere based on the audio signal (18) analysis result (28), wherein the atmosphere is created to maintain the public environment and mood in the ambient environment (12).

EFFECT: system enables easy and automatic creation of an atmosphere which is suitable for a public environment and mood in an ambient environment, eg indoors.
