FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed method comprises making the patterns from foamed polystyrene, fitting inserts in patterns, placing the latter in moulding box and filling metal melts in. Inserts are produced by compaction of alloying powders in container with wall thickness of 0.1-20 mm. Alloying powder particle size is selected to make 1 nm to 6 mm.
EFFECT: alloyed hardened regions in casts varying in composition and properties.
