FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to a method for producing composite aluminium matrix materials by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS), and can be used as a master alloy for aluminium alloys. Powdered aluminium or an alloy based on it is added to a reaction mixture consisting of powdered chromium- and boron-containing materials, taken in a ratio of the mass of chromium to the mass of boron from 1 to 8, maintaining the ratio of the mass of aluminium or aluminium alloy to the mass of the reaction mixture from 1 to 100. The reaction mixture may additionally contain powders of copper, nickel, titanium, zirconium or alloys based on them in an amount of at least 3% by weight of the reaction mixture. The resulting mixture is stirred and subjected to compaction and SHS is initiated to obtain an aluminium matrix material with ceramic components in the form of chromium borides.
EFFECT: ensuring the production of an aluminium matrix composite material with a wide range of boride phase content with low heat generation and the versatility of the process due to the absence of special melting equipment.
