FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: rotary expansion engine comprises circular cylinder block with pistons fitted therein, piston and cylinder reciprocation drive and valve gear and fuel feed system. Valve gear forces gas in and discharge it from chambers formed between cylinders and pistons. Fuel feed system forces fuel into cylinders to ignite it therein. Pistons and cylinders are composed of hollow barrels with bottom and shell. Exposed ends of the pistons are fitted inside cylinders with guaranteed clearance between piston and cylinder shells. Fluid flows in said clearances and, partially, in said chambers. With cylinder block rotating, said fluid compensate for difference in gas pressure inside pistons and pressure acting to fluid surface in said clearances owing to difference in static pressures of fluid columns in chambers and clearances.
EFFECT: higher mechanical and thermal efficiency.
