FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method for mutual conversion of mechanical energy and potential energy of compressed gas consists in cyclic variation of gas volume and periodical renewal of gas in this volume via channels of gas supply and drain. The specified volume of gas is enclosed between the cylinder and the piston placed inside of it, and changes as they move relative to each other. The cylinder and the piston are made in the form of hollow sleeves, which have a bottom and a shell. Sleeves face each other with open ends and are made with a guaranteed gap between the shells. The gap is filled with liquid. The cylinder and the piston with liquid are placed in the field of action of potential forces so that the difference of static pressures of liquid columns inside the piston and in the gap compensates difference of gas pressure inside the piston and external pressure acting at the surface of liquid in the gap.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase efficiency of the process due to reduced losses for friction and bringing the compression process close to the isothermic process.
