FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and may be used for honing shaped shafts with equiaxed profile. Proposed process comprises running the cutter and machined shaft at equal rpm with the use of disc cutter. Cutter profile features equiaxed outline while the number of apices and eccentricity of said outline equals those of honed shaft. In honing, cutter and shaft axes are set in parallel. Cutter and shaft run in one direction.
EFFECT: higher quality, efficiency and precision.
