FIELD: machine engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method includes processing with a disk cutter made with an ellipsoidal profile in a section perpendicular to the axis of cutter rotation, in which the difference between the major and minor semiaxes is equal to the double eccentricity of the processed shaft, which axis is parallel to the axis of the disk cutter. Processing is conducted by counter cutting. The processed shaft is rotated about its own axis with the planetary motion of the processed neck along the circumference, the diameter of which is chosen equal to the two eccentricities of the processed shaft. The rotation frequency of the processed shaft is set equal to the rotation frequency of the disk cutter.

EFFECT: cutting process is simplified, the wear resistance of the processed surface is increased.
