FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: claimed is method of measuring HNO3 concentration in air, in which, in accordance with the invention, air, containing nitric acid vapours, is passed through cold reactor; current (background) concentration of NO2 in air is measured and its value is stored in microprocessor unit as C1, then reactor is heated to temperature 250-350°C, concentration of NO2, separated in the process of thermal HNO3 decomposition, is measured, its value is stored in microprocessor unit as C2 and concentration of nitric acid vapours in air in determined by specific formula. Also claimed is device for realisation of method, described above, which contains air-intake pipe (1), flow booster (5) for air pumping, sensor (4) for measuring NO2 concentration in air and microprocessor unit (8) for control of device operation and memorising values of NO2 concentration, in which, in accordance with the invention, reactor (2) with periodically heated catalyst is installed at inlet into air intake pipe (1).
