FIELD: chemical industry; environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: plant for the preparation of a suspension of red iron oxide pigments includes reactor (1) for the preparation of iron nitrate, reactor (2) for the preparation of a suspension of hematite cores, reactor (3) for the preparation of hematite pigment, scrubbers (4) and/or (6). Reactors (1) and (3) are made with the possibility of communication with scrubber (4) and/or (6) via lines (L-3a) and (L-3b), respectively. Reactor (2) is made with the possibility of communication via line (L-4) with oxidative unit (5) made with the possibility of communication via line (L-5) with scrubber (4) and/or (6). The plant also contains unit for purifying waste gas (9) made with the possibility of communication via line (L-8) with heater (8) communicated via line (L-7) with scrubber (4) and/or (6). The plant can be equipped with several scrubbers (4 and 6) and additionally – with a unit for purifying waste water communicated with reactor (3) or with a separating device; with a heat exchanger communicated with scrubbers (4) and (6), with heater (8) and with unit for purifying waste gas (9). The separating device can be communicated with reactor (3).
EFFECT: plant provides for effective and environmentally friendly Penniman process, i.e. nitrate process with obtaining red iron oxide pigments of a wide color spectrum and with high yield, with minimal release of by-products into the environment.
