FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to monitoring of pipette conditions. Pipette comprises suction pipe and pipette tip. This method consists in feeding ultrasound signal to suction pipe wall. Note here that said ultrasound signal is generated by piezo actuator arranged at said wall of suction pipe. Note here that said actuator stays in contact with extra mass on the side opposite said suction pipe. Note here that said extra mass is arranged to up the piezo actuator sensitivity. Depending upon frequency measured is ultrasound signal attenuation in suction pipe wall in preset frequency range covering multiple frequencies. Said attenuation measured subject to attenuation frequency in preset frequency range is compared with at least one reference measurement of frequency-dependent attenuation frequency to define is said pipette contains the fluid or stays in contact therewith.
EFFECT: higher precision of pipetting.
