SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an equipment and can be used to test a liquid sample. Claimed is a reagent carrier unit representing a cartridge of vessels and a microplate comprising a plurality of reaction vessels, comprising a coupling section for releasable coupling with pipetting arm coupling section (18) of a pipetting means of laboratory robot (1) for releasable coupling of a pipetting tip. Wherein the coupling section is tapering recess (36) having a complementary shaped inner surface with respect to an outer surface of pipetting arm coupling section (18) for coupling a reagent carrier unit with pipetting arm coupling section (18) by friction forces and/or vacuum applied by the pipetting arm. Wherein recess (36) is a separate blind hole of the reagent carrier unit, which is different from the reaction vessel. Also provided is a method for handling a reagent carrier unit using a pipetting robot comprising a movable pipetting arm having pipetting arm coupling section (18) for releasable coupling pipetting tip (19, 55). Wherein pipetting arm coupling section (18) is used to grip the reagent carrier unit in the recess, so that the reagent carrier unit can be moved by moving the pipetting arm. Wherein the reagent carrier unit is a cartridge of vessels or a microplate having a plurality of reaction vessels, and recess (36) is a separate blind hole of the reagent carrier unit, which is different from the reaction vessel.
