FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: rapid diagnostics method for the materials surface layer involves exposing of the material surface to the impact of cavitating jet of fluid in the mix with chemically active gases under the pressure of at least 50 Mpa with the velocity of 100-850 m/s and then assessing the results of such impact. The time period of the hydrojet impact is defined empirically in the range 10-60 s basing on the physical and mechanical characteristics of the material and the thickness of the tested sample. The cavitation intensity can vary widely due to the increase or decrease of supply of one or more gases activating the cavitation, to the mixing chamber. Carbon dioxide, oxygen, ammonia, hydrogen chloride are used as chemically active gases.
EFFECT: expanded process functionality of jet impact on a unit and its usage for diagnostics of materials and parts in machine building, aircraft building, ship building and water works of different purposes.
