SUBSTANCE: invention relates to domain selection for delivering message service information. The communication method involves: maintaining an indication at an access terminal, wherein the indication indicates that a message service is preferred to be invoked over an Internet Protocol domain or that the message service is not to be invoked over said Internet Protocol domain, and sending message service information from the access terminal based on the indication, wherein sending message service information includes: attempting to send the message service information through Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem signalling if the indication indicates that the message service is preferred to be invoked over said Internet Protocol domain, and attempting to connect to one of: non-access layer signalling or channel-switched domain and sending message service information over either the non-access layer signalling or channel-switched domain if the attempt to send message service information through Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem signalling fails.

EFFECT: high reliability and efficiency associated with delivery of message service information in modern networks and easy delivery of information from an access terminal through different types of domains.
