FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ship building. Method for providing ship floatability consists in the following: free areas on inner sides of boards, decks and bottom between longitudinal and transversal reinforcing ribs, not used and free from equipment spaces are filled with synthetic foam the volume of which is calculated so that it is little more than floating craft displacement and that upper deck after immersion is just above water level and people could reside on it until rescue team arrival. Synthetic foam is applied on all walls and ceilings of cabins, passages and command bridges. Thickness of foam coating is 5 to 10 cm or more which permits to create even, solid, foamy coating which is painted, covered with enamelled cloth or other coating. To create synthetic foam air or helium is used. Helium is lighter than air, consequently foam will take lass volume and will be flameproof. Fireproof foams are also used which withstand high temperature and explosive power, or synthetic foam is covered with fireproof and explosionproof coating.
EFFECT: safety of people in event of shipwreck.
