FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: metal cutting machine comprises a long-length box-type supporting frame with horizontal guides, at one of the frame ends a vertical post is installed and fitted by vertical guides for vertical travelling of a spindle head with an electric motor and a boring head, the frame is equipped by lower slide able of moving along the frame guides and upper slide able of moving in the plane perpendicular to the frame guides, a turning table with a mounting plate for workpiece positioning set on it, is mounted on the slides. Above the frame guides horizontal plates are set with a gap and form aerostatic bearing structure for the guides which consists of sections where pockets are located, supply of air under pressure and its distribution to each section are provided through a hole and distribution microgrooves for air distribution per the section area. The sections are rectangular and divided by drain channels to prevent overflow of air from one section to another, the total number of sections amounts to at least three, the guide width - at least 30 mm, length of each section - 500 mm at most, distance from the microgrooves to the guide edge - at least 15 mm.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and operating speed of aerostatic bearing structures.
