SUBSTANCE: external fixation apparatus is applied on injured segments of a flat bone with the use of wires by incising skin and subcutaneous fat first to expose a bone to be fixed or displaced. Two coplanar spaced holes are drilled through the incision in the same cortical layer of the flat bone through which archwise monocortical lock pins are inserted into an intramedullary canal. The lock pins are fixed to a rod drive which is connected to a locating support thereby forming the external fixation apparatus. According to the second version, placing two monocortical lock pins is followed by inserting a K-wire thought a rib thickness in a cross direction so as the K-wire is supposed to pass through an intercortical layer of the rib leaving a pleura intact. The wire is curved at both sides and fixed in a sleeve together with two pre-fixed monocortical lock pins. The rod drive is placed in the sleeve. The mounted fixing units are combined in the external fixation apparatus by means of the rod and locating support in the form of a plate, and further the rods are pulled to eliminate the displacement and to stabilise the fractures or to perform the reduction.

EFFECT: more reliable fixation, relieving pain syndrome, stabilising the injured bone fragments reliably with the minimum involvement of the patient's vital organs, preserving the patient's mobility.
