FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method for separate isolation of tanning substances and flavonoids from medicinal plant material involves first extracting the material with purified water in defined conditions. The obtained extract, which contains tanning substances, is drained. Extraction of the treated material is carried out with new portion of water in defined conditions to obtain an extract which contains flavonoids.

EFFECT: method enables to isolate tanning substances from plant material with negligible extraction of flavonoids and then isolate the flavonoids, thereby increasing extraction thereof into water compared to the natural process.
