FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention proposes a method for gas cooling of an electrical machine and an electrical machine with gas cooling, which is performed according to this method, which includes housing (1) with stator (2) and rotor (3) installed with gap (4), which are arranged in the housing. Outputs of stator coolers (5) are interconnected with cold gas collection chamber (8), and outputs are connected to exhaust fans (7). Inputs of rotor coolers (6) are interconnected with heated gas collection chamber (9), and outputs are connected to rotor channels (14). Inputs and outputs of rotor channels are located on different rotation radii, with that, outputs of channels are absent from the central part of rotor opposite the central zone of the stator core. Inputs of channels (11) of U-shape in the main zones, those of radial channels (12) in end zones and those of radial channels (13) in the central zone of the stator core are interconnected with the cold gas collection chamber. Outputs of channels of the main zone through gas collecting air ducts (15) and channel (16) between internal and external rings of a pressure plate, outputs of channels of the central zone through the gap and outputs of channels of the end zone are interconnected with the heated gas collection chamber.

EFFECT: effective cooling of active parts of an electrical machine.
