FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of geochemical exploration of mineral resources and can be used in the search for oil and gas deposits mainly in marine conditions. The method of geochemical exploration includes sampling rocks and vegetation along water streams, separation of rock samples into fractions and their analysis for the content of chemical elements. The samples are divided into two fractions. The first one is analysed for Si, Al, Ti, Y, and the second one for Hg. The vegetation samples are analysed for Ba, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, as well as Sr, Cd, Hg. Results of the analysis are calculated for respective additive indices of normalised concentrations, maps of distribution of the said additive indices are built and the objects, characterised by the distribution of abnormal values of the additive indices are matched to oil and gas promising sites. If background levels of the content of heavy metals in vegetation are above the norm, magnetometer survey with isolation of ferromagnetic objects at the background of the underwater objects of natural origin is carried out.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of exploration data.
