FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: buoy stations equipped with methane detection sensors are arranged in water medium. Methane concentration is measured in water thickness by means of specified sensors. Gas formation geographical coordinates are defined by position of gas formation in movable system of coordinates of buoy station, which, in its turn, is defined with account of buoy station and gas formation speed vectors, initial position of gas formation, radius vector that defines position of buoy station in satellite system of coordinates, current value of time after gas formation position definition.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of assessment.
