FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a combination of biocides for reducing or inhibiting or preventing growth of microorganisms in aqueous liquids added to oil or gas wells. The synergetic antimicrobial composition contains at least two components. The first component is ortho-phenylphenol (OPP) or an alkali metal salt thereof or an ammonium salt and the second component is 4,4-dimethyloxazolidine (DMOZ), taken in a ratio ranging from 4:1 to 1:15.

EFFECT: invention provides a method of reducing or inhibiting or preventing growth of microorganisms in aqueous liquids added to oil or gas wells by adding said synergetic antimicrobial composition; present invention provides high efficiency of controlling microorganisms in oil and gas production industry.
