FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: in the first version, when proposed method is used after inflammation has begun, locomotive diesel is switched off, water pressure in its cooling system is increased to required value and water is used for fire fighting. Herewith, pressure of water in locomotive cooling system is raised by using compressed air from brake lines supplied to locomotive water system or by using compressed incombustible gas from high-pressure cylinders, or by using pressure of gases created as a result of successive explosions of pyrocartridge chain in high-pressure cylinder. In the second version of proposed method of alternative fire extinguishing in diesel locomotive cabin, after inflammation has begun, diesel is switched off using pump installed outside locomotive cooling system before sprinkler, working medium pressure before it is increased to required value and this medium is used for fire fighting. Herewith, electric or water pump (motor pulser) is used.

EFFECT: higher reliability and efficiency of extinguishing fire in diesel locomotive equipment.
