FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides a magnetic compass of spherical type designed for fixation to a cuddy overhead in front of a steersman. In a body made in the form of a sphere and filled with a compass liquid there is a magnetosensitive element with positive buoyancy, which comprises magnets, a float and a scale. In the centre of the upper part of the float there is a support unit. Inside the compass body in the middle of the upper part the needle is fixed in such a way that the needle point is directed downwards and rests against the support unit. The compass scale is made in the form of a truncated cone, the smaller diameter of which is arranged in the lower part of the element and is designed for bottom view.
EFFECT: simplified design of a compass of spherical type and its improved operation characteristics.
