FIELD: physics, atomic power.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of conducting an explosive reaction, including a nuclear or thermonuclear reaction. In the disclosed method, an explosion is carried out by detonating a charge inside a solid metal body placed in a pressure casing. As a result of the explosion, the explosive energy of the charge melts said body and the heat of molten metal is recycled. After cooling the melt after the first explosion of the charge, successive explosions of the next charges are carried out with corresponding cooling of the melt while the charge is located inside said melt. In one version of the disclosed method, before the first detonation of the explosive device, the inner space of the pressure casing is filled through a corresponding channel with molten metal, inside of which the rest of the operations are conducted after plugging said channel.
EFFECT: reducing the size of the apparatus used and improving radiation safety.
