SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of packaging equipment and can be used when changing rolls of packaging material. The method of feeding to the site of supply of packaging unit of new roll of sheet packaging material comprises the steps of releasable connection of the holder of the sheet packaging material with a support structure, connection of the end part of the new roll to the holder, performing for the end part of at least one operation, transfer the new roll together with the holder from the support structure in the direction of the supply site and the releasable connection of the holder with a new roll with the fixed part of the supply site. In connecting the end part of the new roll with the holder, the holder is connected to the support structure. The holder comprises first connecting means, second connecting means and has a groove. The first means connect the holder to the fixed part of the supply site of the packaging unit or the support structure for the roll. The second means connect the holder with the lifter. The groove is made with the ability to slide of packaging sheet material in it. The lifter comprises a frame, the gripping means and the connecting structure. The connecting structure is attached to the frame and can be connected with the holder.
EFFECT: simplifying of supply of new rolls to the supply site of the packaging unit is provided.
