SUBSTANCE: method comprises selection of ewes taking into account the extent of their genetic compatibility with ram-breeder on the amount of index of antigenic similarity and weight indices of placenta. At that the fetal-placental index is additionally determined taking into account the ratio of weight indices of placenta and the new-born animal with the level of organometric indicators of umbilical cord depending on the degree of genetic differences of parental couple. The fetal-placental index is determined in grams by dividing the weight of a new-born animal by the weight of the placenta, the level of organometric indicators of umbilical cord is determined by the following parameters: the average diameter of the umbilical cord (ADUC d cm)=d₁+d₂+d₃+…d₅:n; the volume (V cm³)=π×r²×L (cm³); unit of volume weight (UVW g/cm³)=M:V (g/cm³); unit of linear weight (ULW g/cm)=M:L (g/cm); standard mass index (SMI g)= ULWx50 cm (g). At that the selection of ewes is carried out on the value of antigenic similarity index between 0.31 and 0.60.

EFFECT: use of the method enables to improve the accuracy of evaluation of the genetic potential of sheep.
