METHOD FOR MANAGING RISK OF COMPLICATED DENTAL CARIES, PULPITIS AND PERIODONTITIS Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61B6/14 A61B10/00

Abstract RU 2528935 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: there are determined and rated depth of caries lesion of the enamel and dentine, localisation of the caries lesion on the dental surface, degree of crown decay, presence and nature of the pathological process involving the pulp and periodont, nature of the pathogenic flora, acid resistance of the enamel, anatomic-topographic characteristics of the dental cavity and root canal system, nature of the dental manipulations, quality of the previous restoration, quality of the previous root canal treatment, segmental severity of caries lesion (SSCL) for a dental segment, periodontal state within the abscessed tooth, presence of multiple lesions of an periodontal infection, inflammatory periodontal pathology, oral hygiene state and disturbed oral ecological system, abnormal occlusion and temporomandibular joint disorder, parafunctional mastication muscle, salivary gland diseases, abnormal salivation and/or saliva composition, disordered protective-restorative potential, disturbed extracorporeal ecological system, psychological problems. If total criteria K<10 points, a poor risk of complications is stated, and preventive monitoring examinations are recommended every 6 months for 3 years. K=10-16 points shows a low risk requiring the preventive monitoring examinations after 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 months. If K=17-24 points, a moderate risk is stated, and the preventive monitoring examinations are performed after 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 months. K=25-34 points shows a high risk of complications with the preventive monitoring examinations performed after 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 30 and 36 months. K=35 points and more shows an obligate risk with the preventive monitoring examinations performed every month until K reduces below 35 points, and further every 3 months for 3 years.

EFFECT: by enlarging the examination areas and increasing the information value, the method enables correcting a therapeutic approach and preventing a risk of complications in due time.
