FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used for milling of helical grooves with variable pitch and profile radius at universal miller. Proposed method comprises spinning of cutter while workpiece is fed axially at constant rate and spun at variable angular velocity. Note here that the cutter is displace radially and in lengthwise direction at its turn through the helical groove helix angle to get variable-pitch helical surface.
EFFECT: milling of whatever helical grooves with whatever law of pitch variation.
