SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication engineering and can be used in systems using enhanced coordination and interference mitigation to detect a fault in a radio link. A method for communicating in an advanced long term evolution (LTE-A) network using common reference signal (CRS) resources associated with different interference levels due to resource partitioning is comprises receiving signals from an eNode B indicating a subset of CRS resources for at least one of radio link monitoring (RLM) and reference signal received power (RSRP) measurement or a combination thereof, wherein said subset of CRS resources includes the CRS resources having secure subframes during which transmission of data is prevented by interfering eNodeB, and at least one of RLM and RSRP measurement or combinations thereof are performed based on the indicated CRS resource subset.
