SUBSTANCE: device to produce geometric characteristics of working cylinders, in particular, during their polishing, comprising a pair of clamps (13, 14), which are made as capable of displacement from each other and towards each other relative to a fixed intermediate support (15) and which have inclined surfaces (19, 20), arranged in opposite directions, in accordance with location of "dovetail" type, relative to a measured cylinder (11), arranged between them and the surface (21) of the specified fixed intermediate support (15), at the same time the specified surfaces (19, 20) of movable clamps (13, 14) and the specified surface (21) of the fixed intermediate support (15) are continuously maintained in contact with the surface of the specified cylinder (11), regardless of the fact whether the cylinder rotates or is fixed; at the same time the fixed support (15) has in its inner part the parts interacting with each other (32, 33; 29, 43; 28, 35, 36, 37, 38) in an assembly for correlation of clamps (13, 14) movement.
