FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: slow neutrons of a reactor are thermalised in a chamber with a cryogenic hydrogenous moderator which is cooled by liquid helium outside the reactor and which is forced to circulate. The cryogenic hydrogenous moderator is kept in the chamber in a liquid phase at a pressure close to atmospheric pressure.
EFFECT: simplifying the method without reducing efficiency.
