FIELD: experimental nuclear physics. SUBSTANCE: device used for producing ultracold neutrons on low- power subcritical breeder at low fluxes of thermal neutrons and high quality (flux density to power ratio) of source has trap filled with superfluid helium and placed in hard deuterium shell. Shell-mounted trap is surrounded by heat- reflecting screen and cylindrical layer of radiation filter made of bismuth and placed in bath. Shell-mounted trap , screen, and filter are placed in large experimental channel provided in heavy-water reflector. EFFECT: improved efficiency of ultracold neutron source. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
