FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical analysis of substances and is aimed at facilitating highly sensitive quantitative determination of metals and metal complexes in natural and industrial facilities, for solving biotechnological and medical tasks, in pharmacology for determining concentration of metal-containing medicinal preparations, for rapid analysis of content of metals during environmental monitoring. Said result is achieved by a method of determining metals and metal complexes in natural and industrial facilities, which includes depositing a complex of a determined element on an ion emitter; irradiating the ion emitter with pulsed laser radiation and detecting the resultant ions with an analyser, wherein the ion emitter used is a solid-state substrate, the wavelength of the laser radiation is selected based on a condition for absorption thereof by the material of the solid-state substrate and the complex of the determined element, and energy density of the laser radiation is selected equal to lower than a threshold for decomposition of the surface of the solid-state substrate.

EFFECT: high sensitivity of the method of determining metals and metal complexes.
