METHOD FOR RENDERING ULTRASONIC FLAW DETECTION OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL ARTICLE Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC G01N29/04

Abstract RU 2532597 C1

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to render ultrasonic flaw detection of a three-dimensional article. The method includes placing piezoelectric transducers of an antenna array on the investigated object, wherein the distance between adjacent positions of the antenna array, where one V image is obtained, is greater than half the ultrasonic wavelength; performing cyclic ultrasonic exposure of the investigated object successively with each piezoelectric transducer of the antenna array and simultaneously receiving ultrasonic waves and conversion thereof into electrical signals using all transducers of the antenna array; amplifying and converting the obtained electrical signals into digital codes; performing coherent processing of stored digital codes, where the investigated object is divided into local areas which are considered as local concentrated reflecting elements. The stored digital codes are shifted back in time by a value equal to the propagation time of the reflected wave from the considered local area to a corresponding piezoelectric transducer of the antenna array. The time-shifted digital codes are multiplied respectively for each of the local areas; the obtained digital code products are stored and used to reconstruct and render an image.

EFFECT: improved definition of the obtained image of an investigated article due to high resolution for separate rendering of multiple adjacent defects, as well as a high signal-to-noise ratio.
